Twenty-three years down the line, the statue shows little obvious effect from time and weather. Effect from the local wildlife, however, is another matter. Wasps have built a nest inside the statue's left nostril and white stains down the front of the right side of the headdress show it to be a favorite perching spot for some kind of bird.
